Jimmy Buffett moved to Nashville to try to make it in country music in the late ’60s. After releasing his first album “Down to Earth” in 1970, he was brought by a friend to Key West to busk for tourists. Buffett soon after moved to Key West and began establishing the easy-going beach-bum persona for which he is known. He started out just playing for drinks in hotels, but soon after started getting real attention. Following hismove, Buffett combined country, folk, rock, and pop music with coastal as well as tropical lyrical themes for a sound sometimes called “gulf and western”. Buffett broke into the mainstream with his sixth album,  “Changes in Latitudes, Changes in Attitudes” (1977), containing the enduring party standard Margaritaville. His follow-up, “Son of a Son of a Sailor” (1978), featured another classic track, Cheeseburger in Paradise. Both albums went gold.  Today, Buffett continues to be a popular live performer, playing numerous concerts across the country every year. He also keeps producing new records, including 2013’s Songs from St. Somewhere.
