Santana

Santana is a legendary rock band that has left an indelible mark on the music industry with their unique fusion of rock, Latin, and jazz influences. Born on July 20, 1947, in Autlán de Navarro, Jalisco, Mexico, Carlos Santana's musical journey began at an early age, and his passion for the guitar ultimately led to the formation of one of the most iconic bands in rock history.

Santana's self-titled debut album, released in 1969, catapulted them to international fame. The album featured a groundbreaking blend of rock, blues, and Latin rhythms, exemplified by the chart-topping single "Evil Ways." This successful debut set the stage for a series of albums that would solidify Santana's reputation as a trailblazer in the music world.

One of Santana's most defining moments came with their performance at the Woodstock Festival in 1969, where they delivered a mesmerizing set that showcased their improvisational skills and Carlos Santana's virtuoso guitar playing. The group was the last major act to emerge from the psychedelic San Francisco music scene of the 1960s and it enjoyed massive success at the end of the decade and into the early ’70s. 

The band made a surprising and monumental comeback in 1999 with Supernatural, an album featuring many guest stars, and became Santana’s best-selling release and won a raft of Grammy Awards. The band has earned eight Grammy Awards and three Latin Grammy Awards, the latter all in 2000. Carlos also won Grammy Awards as a solo artist in 1989 and 2003. Santana has sold more than 90 million records worldwide.
