Kenny Loggins

Kenny Loggins, born on January 7, 1948, in Everett, Washington, is a renowned American singer, songwriter, and guitarist who has left an indelible mark on the music industry with his distinctive voice and timeless hits. From the 1970s to the present day, Loggins has enjoyed a prolific career, captivating audiences with his soulful performances and heartfelt lyrics.

Loggins' musical journey began in the late 1960s when he formed the duo Loggins and Messina with Jim Messina. The duo produced a string of successful albums, including "Sittin' In" (1971) and "Full Sail" (1973), which showcased Loggins' songwriting prowess and vocal prowess. Their harmonious blend of folk, rock, and pop made them a fixture on the music scene.

However, it was in the 1980s that Kenny Loggins truly solidified his status as a solo artist and an iconic soundtrack contributor. His solo career took off with hits like "This Is It," "Heart to Heart," and "Footloose." The latter, the title track from the soundtrack of the blockbuster movie of the same name, earned Loggins an Academy Award nomination and became an anthem of the era.

Kenny Loggins continued his success with a string of chart-topping singles, including "Danger Zone" from the "Top Gun" soundtrack and "I'm Alright" from the movie "Caddyshack." Through the first six years of the ’70’s, Loggins and Messina amassed two platinum and five gold albums, worldwide superstardom and a distinguished list of classic hits such as “Danny’s Song,” “Love Song,” “Your Mama Don’t Dance” and “Angry Eyes,” among others. 

The pair parted ways in 1976, and it wasn’t long before Kenny’s star as a solo artist began. His first three solo albums all turned platinum. His memorable hits included “Celebrate Me Home”, “Whenever I Call You Friend”, “This Is It”, “I’m Alright” and “Forever”. 

His self-produced album “Vox Humana” was certified gold, and along the way he picked up two Grammy’s (Song of the Year for “What A Fool Believes” and Best Pop Vocal for “This Is It”), Japan’s International Artists Award and an Academy Award nomination for “Footloose”. Other Top10 hits include “Danger Zone” and “Meet Me Half Way.” Altogether Kenny has sold more than 20 million albums.
